FTE spare parts catalogs now also available on CD-ROM

FTE automotive GmbH, world-wide market leader in the field of hydraulic clutch actuation and motorcycle ABS systems and specialist for hydraulic brake systems, continues to rely on service and software provided by CPTec for producing spare parts catalogs for cars and trucks. As of August 2005, FTE spare parts catalogs are also available on CD-ROM.

The application developed by CPTec for this purpose uses the same database as the one that is used for production of FTE catalogs in print and on the Internet. For this purpose, a specially developed software imports data from TecDoc, the information system used by the automotive supply industry. Control tables are used to adapt this information to the terminology and the structures used by FTE for the automotive aftermarket.

At the moment, catalog queries for cars and trucks are possible in 7 languages for a total of 128 countries. Spare parts can be searched by selecting the vehicle type in a number of selection menus (vehicle type, manufacturer, model, type and product group) or by entering a KBA number. Alternatively, an FTE number or a number of comparison can be entered directly.

The user interface of the CD catalog is identical with the Internet version. Its structure and layout are similar to the printed FTE catalogs that the users are familiar with. The program can be started without installation right from the CD and it runs on all PCs with Windows 98 SE or later. The program may be installed on the hard disk for faster data access.

The CD version complements FTE's range of catalogs. FTE customers can now search for spare parts on the Internet, on a CD-ROM, or in a printed catalog. On the PC, a search for spare parts may be much easier and faster than in a printed catalog. Another advantage is the fact that data on the CD are more up-to-date. Updated versions of the CD catalog will be issued every three months. Printed versions of the catalogs, on the other hand, can only be issued from time to time because of their huge extent, normally exceeding one thousand pages per catalog.
